It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Peter Wood & funeral details

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Peter Woods – a true stalwart of Malvern Rugby Club!

Peter held many roles over the decades, from Chairman to writing our match reports and his match day column “Notes from the bar…” as “Jock Rott”, but more than any role or title, he has become part of our clubs DNA. In more recent years, he had become Ern’s loyal chaperone, travelling the Rugby Clubs of West Midlands, the South West and beyond, watching our 1st XV come rain or shine and sampling the finest ales on offer whilst sharing stories with friends old and new.

Peter will be remembered most of all for his warmth, his ever-friendly presence, and his unwavering optimism whether it was about Malvern’s next match or Scotland’s Six Nations chances. He had a unique gift for making Malvern RFC feel like home for everyone who walked through its doors.

Our thoughts and deepest sympathies are with Peter’s family at this difficult time.

Rest easy, Peter. You will be greatly missed and forever remembered ❤️

Peter's funeral is taking place on Thursday, the 7th of August at 11.30 at Malvern Baptist Church, 8, Abbey Road, Malvern WR14 3HG. This will be followed by the wake at Malvern Rugby Club, Spring Lane, WR14 1AJ
